Insomniac Games' spider web-slinging adventure,Marvel'southward Spider-Homo,pays tribute to the hero's long history in comic books, films and other media. The game's plot draws inspiration from multiple iconic Spider-Homo stories, while also putting its ain unique twist on the mythos. Information technology features many villains from throughout the character's history, both classic and contemporary, such as Wilson Fisk, Doctor Octopus and Screwball.

Nonetheless, the superpowered and morally corrupt Martin Li, besides known as Mister Negative, is arguably the game's most prominent villain. Introduced to the pages of Marvel Comics by Dan Slott and Phil Jimenez in 2007, which is relatively recent in comic book time, Martin Li quickly became a popular new addition to Spidey'southward rogues gallery. In its own version of the Spider-Human being mythos Insomniac Games put a unique spin on the dissever-personality supervillain, creating a sympathetic and iconic version of Mister Negative.

Negative Origins

Martin Li's origin story in the game differs from the comic book version of the graphic symbol in social club to necktie him more closely to other parts of the story. A Chinese immigrant brought to New York Urban center by his parents, Martin Li suffered from a life-threatening affliction. The family sought help from Norman Osborn and Oscorp, but the experimental treatment led to a deadly explosion that killed Li's parents. The experiment likewise affected Li, granting him superpowers and an alternate personality.

With his parents dead Li spent years in foster intendance before returning to China and becoming a billionaire through his shipping visitor. Somewhen, he returned to New York, where he used his wealth for philanthropy by opening the Food, Emergency, Aid, Shelter and Training facility for the city's homeless population. All the same, Li secretly sought revenge confronting Norman Osborn for the event that killed his parents.

Inner Demons

Martin Li is introduced early inMarvel'southward Spider-Man, with Peter Parker'southward beloved Aunt May working closely with him at the F.E.A.S.T. shelter. Li appears to exist kind and generous, acting as a sort of parental figure for Peter. Even so, after Spider-Man defeats Wilson Fisk and has him arrested, a powerful new gang of criminals called the Inner Demons begins to appear throughout Manhattan. Eventually, information technology is revealed that the gang is run by Mister Negative, a powerful superhuman capable of corrupting and controlling innocent people.

It is later revealed that Mister Negative is really Martin Li, who plans to steal and release Devil'southward Breath, a powerful biological weapon accidentally created by Norman Osborn, equally a course of revenge. The assail is thwarted by Spider-Man, who defeats Mister Negative, merely the villain later returns when Medico Octopus frees the Sinister Six from the Raft prison. Li reappears to kidnap Michael Morbius, a scientist who created an antitoxin to Devil'southward Breath, simply he is defeated once once more by Spidey.

Powers and Abilities

The experiment that killed Li's parents gave him the ability to corrupt people's minds and control free energy, which he is able to use equally a powerful weapon against his enemies. He can create shockwaves of destructive energy, class energy weapons (such as swords) and move superhumanly fast. However, Li is also inexperienced in combat, and then he often overextends and burns himself out. When players confront Mister Negative, the best strategy is to merely focus on dodging his fast and wide-reaching attacks. After a few attacks, he will go momentarily dazed, assuasive you lot to zip over with a Web Assault and first wailing on him. This cycle of evasion and counter-attacking volition make short work of Mister Negative.

Martin Li is one of the near contemporary villains featured in Insomniac's version of the Spider-Man universe. The developer was able to create a version of the character that is true to his comic book roots, while too injecting him with a lot of humanity and personality. With a sympathetic backstory, visually striking powers and large role in the story, Marvel's Spider-Man's Mister Negative is a fantastic antagonist.
