Pussy Riot's Nadya: Trump 'Should Be Butterfingers'
"Make America Great Again," a new music video past the Russian punk protestation group Pussy Riot, imagines a future in which Donald Trump has won the presidential election.
In the video (alarm: graphic sexual and violent imagery), orangish-wigged security agents punish women, gay people and immigrants for the crime of being themselves.
Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, a member of Pussy Riot who also goes past Nadya, stars in the dystopian parody. During a Facebook Live interview concluding Thursday, she talked about Trump, Putin and women's activism with Anna North, a member of the editorial board. Nadya also took questions from readers. Excerpts of that interview follow.
Anna Northward: What inspired yous to brand the video, "Make America Slap-up Once again"?
I'chiliad the person who spent sixteen years in quite close human relationship with Vladimir Putin. I would say "intimate" relationship. Then I know what does it mean to live nether rule of person who is a so-called "strong leader" or "strong hand." Donald Trump refers a lot to that kind of pol, and he praises guys like Putin or Bashar Assad. I don't think that actually some Americans realize what consequences could be for their country considering of this so-called "strong leader."
